We are seeking an experienced and visionary Chief Operating Officer (COO) to lead the strategy, operations, and growth of a leading Digital News Platform. This role demands a combination of operational excellence, digital transformation expertise, strategic foresight, and people leadership to drive audience engagement, revenue growth, and market leadership in the competitive digital media landscape.
The COO will be responsible for the end-to-end strategy and operations of the Digital News platform, requiring a blend of operational excellence, digital acumen, strategic foresight, and people leadership.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and execute the overall business strategy, aligning with the organizations vision and growth targets.
- Own P&L responsibility, ensuring financial sustainability and profitability.
- Monitor key business metrics, analyze trends, and make data-driven decisions to optimize revenue streams.
Financial Oversight:
- Oversee budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning processes.
- Manage cost structures while investing strategically in growth and innovation.
- Collaborate with the finance team to ensure compliance, transparency, and fiscal discipline.
- Lead day-to-day operations, ensuring efficiency, scalability, and quality across functions.
- Build, mentor, and inspire high-performing teams across editorial, product, technology, and marketing.
- Foster a culture of accountability, creativity, and continuous improvement.
- Spearhead digital innovation, leveraging technology to improve user experience, content delivery, and monetization.
- Oversee platform enhancements, data analytics initiatives, and integration of emerging technologies (e.g., AI-driven content personalization).
- Ensure the platforms performance, security, and scalability meet industry-leading standards.
- Build strong relationships with advertisers, partners, investors, and other ecosystem players.
- Represent the organization at industry forums, conferences, and strategic partnership discussions.
- Ensure alignment and collaboration between editorial, business, and technology stakeholders.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
Experience: 10 - 15 years in senior leadership roles within digital media, digital news, or content platforms.
- Proven success in scaling digital platforms and managing multi-functional teams.
- Strong exposure to digital media revenue models, including:
- Advertising
- Programmatic
- Branded content
- Direct-to-consumer (D2C) subscriptions
- Deep understanding of audience growth strategies, digital engagement metrics, and content monetization.
- Strong business acumen with a track record of P&L ownership.
- Excellent leadership, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, rapidly evolving digital environment.
- Experience in digital transformation and adoption of emerging technologies in media.
- Strategic thinker with a balance of creativity and operational discipline.
- Passion for journalism, news integrity, and audience engagement.
