The Chief Merchandising Officer (CMO) will drive the overall merchandising strategy, assortment planning, product lifecycle management, and inventory efficiency across all channels - retail stores, online, and wholesale. The CMO ensures that the right products are offered at the right time, place, price, and quantity, aligned with the brand identity and business objectives.
Key Responsibilities:
Merchandising Strategy & Vision:
- Develop and implement long-term merchandising strategies aligned with company vision and market trends.
- Drive innovation in product mix while preserving brand heritage and customer trust in quality.
Assortment Planning & Range Architecture:
- Oversee seasonal and annual product planning across core and aspirational jewellery categories.
- Curate collections aligned with regional and festival preferences.
Product Development:
- Work closely with design and sourcing teams to conceptualize and launch exclusive jewellery lines.
- Use market intelligence and consumer data to steer product development.
Buying & Vendor Management:
- Lead vendor relationships, including selection, negotiation, and performance evaluation.
- Optimize vendor portfolio to ensure agility, cost-effectiveness, and quality control.
Inventory & Pricing Strategy:
- Own inventory health across all channels.
- Define pricing strategy ensuring competitive margins while protecting brand positioning.
Leadership & Collaboration:
- Lead and mentor a multi-functional merchandising team.
- Collaborate with marketing, retail operations, design, and finance teams.
Key Skills & Experience Required:
- 15+ years of experience in merchandising, with at least 5 years in leadership roles.
- Deep understanding of consumer behavior in the Indian jewellery market.
- Strong grip on product lifecycle, inventory management, sourcing, and category profitability.
- Proven success in launching high-performance collections or turning around underperforming categories.
Educational Background:
- Bachelor's Degree in Business, Fashion Merchandising, or Jewellery Design.
- MBA or PGDM from a reputed institute preferred.
