Role : Chief Delivery Officer - InsuranceTech

Location : Mumbai / Pune

Responsibilities and Expectations:

1. Building and Standardizing Processes in a Product-First Organization:

- Design and implement delivery frameworks tailored for product development and deployment, not just project execution.

Establish SDLC processes specific to a product company, covering:

- Requirements gathering (PRDs, BRDs).

- Agile/Scrum methodologies for iterative product development.

- Quality assurance pipelines tailored for product scalability.

- Build processes for continuous delivery and integration (CI/CD) to support frequent product updates and seamless deployments.

- Ensure traceability across product lifecycles, from inception to delivery, while maintaining flexibility to iterate rapidly in a startup environment.

2. Transitioning from Founder-Led to Process-Led Operations:

- Develop a playbook for delivery and customer engagement, reducing dependency on founders for day-to-day execution.

- Create clear ownership frameworks with well-defined roles and responsibilities across teams.

- Foster a culture of accountability by introducing measurable KPIs for product delivery teams.

3. Customer Engagement from a Product Perspective:

- Act as the face of the company for customers, ensuring alignment of product delivery with customer expectations.

- Focus on delivering productized solutions rather than custom-built implementations, with an emphasis on configurability and scalability.

- Create a customer feedback loop that informs the product roadmap and enhances future releases.

4. Establishing a Strong Product Delivery Function:

- Build and lead a high-performing delivery team capable of scaling the company's product offerings globally.

- Ensure that product implementations for customers are executed with precision, balancing customization and out-of-the-box capabilities.

- Maintain alignment between sales, product, and engineering teams, ensuring the delivery function operates as a bridge to execute the product vision.

5. Embedding Insurance Domain Knowledge (Optional but Valuable):

- Ideally, possess or quickly acquire a strong understanding of insurance workflows, such as claims, underwriting, benefit configuration, and fraud detection.

- Translate insurance-specific requirements into product features and delivery frameworks, ensuring domain relevance in customer implementations.

- Leverage domain knowledge to act as a trusted advisor to customers, building confidence in the product's ability to meet their unique needs.

6. Bringing AI into the Delivery Function:

Integrate AI-driven tools and workflows to enhance delivery processes, including:

- Automating documentation and reporting (e.g., PRDs, SOWs, delivery updates).

- Using AI for risk prediction and resource optimization in product rollouts.

- Cultivate a culture of AI adoption within the delivery team, ensuring AI augments team productivity rather than replacing human oversight.

- Align AI capabilities within the product (e.g., claims automation, fraud detection) with delivery processes to ensure seamless customer onboarding.

7. Driving Cultural and Organizational Transformation:

- Foster a culture of collaboration and ownership, ensuring alignment between teams working on the product, delivery, and customer success.

- Lead by example in establishing a process-first mindset, balancing agility with discipline in execution.

- Focus on team enablement, providing training and support to make employees self-sufficient in process-led delivery.

8. P&L Ownership and Delivery Profitability:

- Own the profit and loss (P&L) for product delivery, ensuring profitability while balancing customer satisfaction.

- Identify opportunities to optimize delivery costs through resource management, process efficiencies, and reuse of productized components.

- Ensure adherence to contract terms (SOWs, SLAs) to prevent scope creep and delivery inefficiencies.

Educational Qualification & Work Experience :

1. PG / MBA / BE / B.Tech with min 18+ years of in Product Delivery:

- Proven experience in leading product-based delivery teams, with a focus on scalable, repeatable processes.

- Strong understanding of product roadmaps, release cycles, and customer implementation methodologies.

2. Startup-Driven Mindset:

- Experience working in or with startups, with the ability to design processes from scratch.

- Comfortable operating in a fast-paced, dynamic environment with evolving priorities.

3. Insurance Knowledge (Preferred but Not Mandatory):

- Knowledge of life, health, and general insurance workflows, or the ability to quickly acquire this knowledge.

- Familiarity with regulatory, compliance, and operational challenges in the insurance sector.

4. Process Design Expertise:

- Ability to design scalable processes without creating unnecessary bureaucracy, ensuring they grow with the organization.

5. Strong Leadership and Transformation Skills:

- Ability to drive organizational transformation, instilling a process-led culture while maintaining startup agility.

- Proven ability to mentor and grow teams, aligning them with strategic business goals.

6. Technology and AI Knowledge:

- Awareness of emerging AI technologies and their application to both product and delivery processes.

- Ability to bridge the gap between technology teams and delivery teams to ensure successful implementation.
