Chief Compliance Officer - Housing Finance
Job Summary:
- The Chief Compliance Officer (CCO) is responsible for developing, implementing, and overseeing compliance programs to ensure that organization adheres to all applicable laws, regulations, and internal policies.
- The CCO will work closely with executive leadership, legal teams, and regulatory bodies to mitigate risks, ensure operational integrity, and promote ethical business practices.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop, implement, and maintain the company's compliance policies and procedures in alignment with federal, state, and local housing regulations.
- Monitor regulatory changes and ensure company policies and procedures remain up to date.
- Conduct regular compliance risk assessments and implement strategies to mitigate identified risks.
- Oversee and manage regulatory filings, audits, and inspections by government agencies.
- Provide training and guidance to employees on compliance-related matters, including fair housing laws, tenant rights, and anti-discrimination policies.
- Investigate and respond to compliance violations, ensuring appropriate corrective actions are taken.
- Serve as the primary point of contact for regulatory agencies and auditors.
- Ensure that contracts, leases, and agreements comply with legal and regulatory requirements.
- Work closely with the legal and risk management teams to develop risk mitigation strategies.
- Report regularly to senior management and the board of directors on compliance issues, findings, and improvements.
- Establish a company-wide culture of compliance and ethical business conduct.
Qualifications & Experience:
- Master's degree in business administration, law, finance, or a related field
- Minimum of 7-10 years of experience in compliance, risk management, or regulatory affairs, preferably in the housing sector.
- In-depth knowledge of fair housing laws, HUD regulations, and other applicable federal, state, and local housing compliance requirements.
- Strong leadership skills with experience in policy development and regulatory enforcement.
- Excellent communication, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams and senior leadership.
- Professional certifications such as Certified Compliance & Ethics Professional (CCEP) or Certified Regulatory Compliance Manager (CRCM) are a plus.
