Job Overview:

We're looking for an experienced Power BI Business Analyst to join our remote team. With 5+ years of experience, you'll bridge the gap between business needs and technical solutions, translating high-level requirements into structured specifications for BI dashboards and data engineering teams. Your expertise in data analysis, strong communication, and proficiency with Power BI will be crucial in delivering impactful insights.

Key Responsibilities

- Demonstrate strong stakeholder management and facilitation skills, effectively engaging with various business units to understand their needs.

- Translate vague or high-level business needs into clear, structured requirements for Power BI dashboard development and data solutions.

- Develop detailed documentation, including user stories, acceptance criteria, and process maps.

- Apply a solid understanding of data warehousing concepts, such as star schema and ETL processes, to ensure robust data solutions.

- Utilize familiarity with Power BI, especially its semantic models and DAX, to guide development and interpretation.

- Read and interpret complex data models and SQL queries, contributing to data understanding and validation.

- Write comprehensive functional specifications for BI dashboards, ensuring they align with business objectives.

- Prepare technical specifications for data engineering teams, facilitating accurate data pipeline development.

- Create and maintain essential data dictionaries and mapping documents for clarity and consistency.

- Use Jira, Confluence, or similar tools for documentation and task tracking, ensuring organized project execution.

- Leverage Excel, Visio, or Lucidchart for creating clear process and data flow diagrams.

Essential Skills & Qualifications

- 5+ years of experience in business analysis, specifically within a data or BI context.

- Strong stakeholder management and facilitation skills.

- Proven ability to translate high-level business needs into structured requirements.

- Experience with user stories, acceptance criteria, and process mapping.

- Solid understanding of data warehousing concepts.

- Familiarity with Power BI, particularly Power BI Service and its semantic layer, and DAX.

- Ability to read and interpret data models and SQL queries.

- Proven experience writing functional specifications for BI dashboards, technical specifications for data engineering teams, and data dictionaries and mapping documents.

- Proficiency with Power BI (Service and semantic layer).

- Experience with Jira, Confluence, or similar documentation and task tracking tools.

- Basic to intermediate proficiency in SQL.

- Competency with Excel, Visio, or Lucidchart for diagramming.

Preferred Qualifications

Experience working in Agile or Scrum environments.

Exposure to cloud data platforms, including Azure, AWS, or GCP.

Familiarity with data governance and data quality best practices.
