About the Role:

- As the Head of Safety, Health, and Environment (SHE), you will be a strategic leader responsible for shaping and driving our safety culture across multiple sites. You will be instrumental in our mission to achieve "Goal Zero"-a state of continuous improvement where we proactively eliminate risks and ensure the highest standards of safety and environmental stewardship.

- This is a critical leadership role that requires a blend of technical expertise, strategic foresight, and the ability to influence and inspire at all levels.

Key responsibilities:

- Strategy and governance: Build and deliver the site SHE strategy, align local SOPs with corporate standards, and uphold certified management systems and site programs that demonstrably reduce risk and incidents.

- Regulatory compliance and audits: Ensure full compliance with statutory, customer, and corporate requirements; lead regulatory engagements (e.g., PCB, PESO), customer/third-party audits, and effective CAPA management to closure.

- Risk management and safe systems: Institutionalize JSA for high-risk tasks, strengthen work permits and LOTO, promote near-miss reporting, and conduct toolbox talks and inspections to prevent incidents.

- Culture and behavior-based safety: Champion behavior-based safety and visible leadership; use observations and feedback to reinforce safe behaviors and improve conditions-not just behaviors-within a comprehensive safety program.

- Emergency preparedness and incident management: Maintain Emergency Preparedness & Response plans; lead incident investigations and drive timely, effective corrective and preventive actions (CAPA).

- Environmental stewardship: Oversee wastewater and emissions monitoring, hazardous waste segregation/storage/disposal, and compliance with PCB consents and agreements; drive waste and resource reduction programs.

- Training and competence: Establish TNI/TNA and calendars; deliver induction and role-specific training, toolbox talks, and competency assessments; measure effectiveness and act on feedback.

- Performance, reporting, and reviews: Lead BU APEX reviews, track leading/lagging indicators, publish dashboards, and ensure sustained improvement of SHE outcomes and culture.

- Projects and change: Partner with Engineering and Operations on construction, commissioning, and change control (MOC), ensuring inherent safety and regulatory compliance throughout the lifecycle.

- Stakeholder management: Liaise with regulators, customers, auditors, vendors, and external partners for compliance, waste treatment, and technical support; coordinate with HR, Admin, Facilities, Security, QA, and Operations.

Minimum qualifications:

Education: M.Sc./M.Tech in Chemistry or Chemical/Environmental Engineering or B.E./B.Tech in

Chemical Engineering; Diploma in Industrial Safety preferred; NEBOSH/IOSH certification desirable.

Experience: 15 to 25 years of EHS leadership in pharma/chemical operations with proven multi-site influence, regulatory compliance, and team leadership; strong command of ISO based SHE systems.

Regulatory knowledge: Working knowledge of Indian and international SHE regulations and standards (e.g., PCB requirements, PESO, hazardous waste norms, permit-to-work systems) with demonstrable audit readiness.

Core competencies:

- Leadership and collaboration: Influences cross-functional leaders, builds high-performing teams, and sustains engagement in safety culture and continuous improvement.

- Communication and training: Clear, persuasive communication with strong training and facilitation skills across shopfloor and leadership audiences.

- Analytical and execution excellence: Skilled in risk assessment, incident investigation, CAPA, metrics, and problem-solving with disciplined follow-through.

Operating network:

Internal: HR, Admin, Facilities, Engineering, Security, QA, API/Formulations, and site leadership for integrated SHE execution and governance.

External: Regulators (PCB, PESO), customers, third-party auditors, waste treatment partners, and technical consultants.
