Assistant Vice President - Legal - Bank - LLB

About the Role:

Location: Mumbai

Position: AVP - Legal

We are seeking a seasoned Legal Counsel to oversee and address all legal matters for our India operations and safeguard the bank's legal interests. You will play a critical role in providing legal support across Corporate Banking, Trade Finance, Treasury & Derivatives, Vendor Management, and Litigation.

Key Responsibilities:

- Corporate Banking: Draft, vet, and standardize loan/legal documents, negotiate terms, and manage execution.

- Trade Finance: Review bank guarantees, letters of credit, and ensure compliance with FEMA, RBI, and ICC rules.

- Treasury & Derivatives: Draft ISDA schedules, negotiate with counterparties, and interpret regulatory requirements.

- Regulatory Advisory: Advise on Company Law, Banking Law, FEMA, Insolvency, AML, and RBI regulations.

- Vendor & Lease Agreements: Draft and vet agreements for IT, HR, Finance, and premises/vehicle leases.

- Litigation Management: Engage and manage law firms, handle court cases, and represent the bank in forums.

- Policy Review: Ensure branch policies comply with local and overseas regulations.

Requirements:

Education: Minimum B.A., LL.B.

Experience: 7 years in a bank's legal department or reputed law firm.

Expertise: Strong understanding of banking products (including treasury) and related legal/regulatory frameworks.
