Job Title : Pension Accountant
Location: Offshore
Reports to: Team Leader in UK
Duties:
- Carry out agreed duties and take on additional responsibilities as may be agreed from time to time with the team leader.
- See through to conclusion the preparation of annual accounts for a portfolio of clients in accordance with relevant SORP and AAF requirements.
- Liaise with all parties including clients, account managers and auditors to ensure timetables are agreed and deadlines met for accounts finalisation, audit and signing within statutory deadlines.
- Attendance at audit planning and audit clearance meetings.
- Deal with audit queries.
- Manage the integrity of accounting transactions, documentary support, postings, compilation, and maintenance of supporting schedules. Provide guidance and support to Admin' teams as necessary.
- Prepare investment reconciliations including managed and segregated funds in accordance with the required disclosures.
- Review monthly reports and bank reconciliations.
- Provision of quarterly financial information for inclusion in client Admin' Reports.
- Provision of information [including GAAP data and funding information] to Actuaries and other professionals in accordance with agreed timescales.
- Provide ad hoc information to clients, trustees, employers, professionals and other interested parties as required.
- Completion of HMRC and other returns as required (including SA970, tax and VAT returns) within required deadlines.
- Assist team members as required.
- Ensure that own work is peer reviewed.
- To complete daily timesheets.
- Participate in annual performance reviews and goal setting.
- Complete required corporate training within prescribed deadlines.
Qualifications
- To have successfully attained a recognised accountancy qualification, e.g. ACA, ACCA, CIMA, etc. (Although, applicants deemed 'qualified by experience' would be considered.)
Knowledge, Experience and Skills: Minimum of 2-3 years pension scheme or investment accounting experience and experience of dealing directly with clients, auditors and other professionals administration.

Information Technology:
- Computer literate in the use of Office Systems, e.g. Microsoft Office for word processing, spreadsheets, database and presentations. Knowledge of Cashfac and Open Accounts [or similar] systems would be advantageous.
People Management:
- Act as mentor to new accountants.
- Provide positive reinforcement to motivate junior team members.
