Job Summary:
The Area Sales Manager is responsible for driving sales growth, managing dealer/distributor networks, and ensuring market penetration in the assigned territory. The role includes planning and executing sales strategies, managing relationships with channel partners, and achieving targets in line with company goals.
Key Responsibilities:
Sales Planning & Execution:
- Achieve monthly, quarterly, and annual sales targets.
- Execute promotional campaigns and territory-specific initiatives.
Channel Management:
- Appoint, manage, and develop a strong dealer/distributor network.
- Ensure healthy stock levels, timely order booking, and billing.
Customer Relationship Management:
- Build strong relationships with channel partners, contractors, architects, and project clients.
- Regular market visits to identify business opportunities and gather feedback.
Team Coordination:
- Coordinate with internal teams (logistics, marketing, finance) to ensure timely deliveries and collections.
- Guide and support Sales Officers / Executives (if any) under your supervision.
Market Intelligence:
- Monitor competitor activity, pricing, and market trends.
- Provide actionable insights to the regional/zonal leadership.
Reporting & Documentation:
- Maintain accurate records of sales, collections, and market data.
- Share weekly/monthly sales reports and forecast plans with superiors.
Key Skills Required:
- Strong negotiation and communication skills
- Deep understanding of distribution/channel sales
- Proficiency in using CRM/ERP tools and MS Excel
- Self-motivated with a strong drive for results
- Ability to manage field activities and work independently
Qualifications:
- Graduate in any discipline (Science/Commerce/Engineering preferred)
- MBA/PGDM in Sales & Marketing is an advantage
- Proven track record in channel sales within building materials or similar
