About Banking CMBS Origination
The CMBS origination team underwrites loans secured by commercial mortgages that are securitized in CMBS transactions.
Key Accountabilities:
- Analyze property financials in order to monitor and report on asset performance.
- Reconcile and review various reports, including monthly portfolio statistics, remittance reconciliations, and monthly asset reports.
- Review rent rolls, noting upcoming lease terminations, renewals, and any free rent periods for tenants.
- Aggregate and compile property-level information into facility-wide statistics and presentation materials.
- Ensure the accuracy and timeliness of property financial updates and reporting.
- Generate periodic facility and portfolio-level reports for CRE senior leadership and business partners in Credit Risk.
- Provide ad hoc analysis as requested by senior management.
- Oversee IT automation of reporting and analytics tools, focusing on efficiency and scalability.
- Perform market and asset-level research.
- Monitor the collection of required financial reporting from borrowers, including property operating statements, rent rolls, STR reports, and guarantor/borrower financials.
- Perform covenant compliance tests for guarantor hurdles.
- Support the asset management team in their daily responsibilities.
Stakeholder Management and Leadership:
- The candidate would directly interact with the CMBS Origination teams. They would have to interact with the team members on a regular basis to make sure that the various models, reports and projects that they are developing are as per requirements
Decision-making and Problem Solving:
- The candidate will have to be proactive in identifying issues and getting them resolved by coordinating with various stakeholders
- The candidate needs to work on several time sensitive activities and hence is required to be meticulous and efficient
Essential Skills/Basic Qualifications:
- Bachelor's/Master's degree from a highly regarded, accredited institution.
- 1-3 years' experience in asset managing or underwriting commercial real estate loans.
- Excellent communication skills and willingness to work as part of a larger team.
- Detail-oriented with very strong organizational skills.
- Strong work ethic with the ability to meet deadlines.
- Strong financial modeling/Excel skills; Argus proficiency is preferred.
- Familiarity with market research sources such as RCA, CoStar, Reis, etc.
- Experience with complex loan structures and documentation.
- Must possess and maintain a current, valid Driver License.
