Job Summary:

We are seeking a highly experienced and motivated Senior Manager - Legal to join our dynamic legal team. The ideal candidate will be a strategic thinker with extensive experience in corporate and commercial law, compliance, and risk management. This individual will play a crucial role in safeguarding the company's legal interests, providing sound legal advice to senior management, and leading a team of legal professionals. The Senior Manager - Legal will be responsible for overseeing a wide range of legal matters, including contract negotiation, litigation management, regulatory compliance, and corporate governance.

Key Responsibilities:

Legal Advisory & Strategy:

- Provide expert and strategic legal advice to management on a variety of legal topics, including but not limited to corporate law, commercial contracts, intellectual property, labor and employment, and data privacy.

- Collaborate with senior leadership to develop and implement legal strategies that align with and support the company's business objectives.

- Anticipate and identify legal issues and potential risks; develop and implement proactive mitigation strategies.

Contract Management:

- Draft, review, and negotiate a wide range of complex commercial agreements, including master service agreements, vendor contracts, partnership agreements, non-disclosure agreements, and technology licensing agreements.

- Develop and maintain standard contract templates and internal policies to streamline the contracting process.

- Ensure that all contracts are in compliance with legal and regulatory requirements and company policies.

Compliance & Corporate Governance:

- Ensure the company's compliance with all applicable national and international laws and regulations.

- Develop, implement, and maintain the company's corporate governance framework.

- Conduct regular internal audits and assessments to ensure adherence to compliance standards.

- Keep abreast of legislative and regulatory changes that may impact the company and advise management accordingly.

Litigation & Dispute Resolution:

- Manage and oversee all litigation and dispute resolution matters, including developing case strategies and representing the company in legal proceedings.

- Liaise with and manage external legal counsel to ensure effective and cost-efficient handling of legal matters.

- Work to resolve disputes in a timely and favorable manner, minimizing legal risk and potential liability.

Team Leadership & Management:

- Lead, mentor, and develop a team of legal professionals, fostering a collaborative and high-performing work environment.

- Manage the legal department's budget and resources effectively.

- Delegate tasks and responsibilities to team members to ensure efficient workflow and professional growth.

Intellectual Property:

- Advise on the protection of the company's intellectual property assets, including trademarks, copyrights, and patents.

- Manage the company's IP portfolio and oversee the registration and enforcement of IP rights.

Qualifications and Experience:

Education: Bachelor of Laws (LL.B.) or Juris Doctor (J.D.) from a reputable and accredited university. A Master of Laws (LL.M.) in a relevant field (e.g., Corporate Law, Commercial Law) is highly desirable.

Experience: A minimum of 8-12 years of relevant legal experience, with at least 3-5 years in a managerial or leadership role within a corporate legal department or a reputable law firm.

Bar Admission: Must be a qualified lawyer and a member in good standing of the local Bar Council.

Skills and Competencies:

- Legal Acumen: In-depth knowledge of corporate and commercial law, with a strong understanding of contract law, regulatory compliance, and litigation management.

- Business Acumen: Proven ability to understand business objectives and provide practical, commercially-focused legal advice.

- Leadership & Management: Strong leadership and people management skills with the ability to motivate and guide a team.
